Compare PDF files

See what changed between two versions of a PDF, paragraph by paragraph, with the changed words highlighted. Your documents never leave your device.

How to compare PDF files

  1. Add both PDFs

Drop the original and the revised PDF. You can also compare a PDF against a Word document.

  2. Matchcheck reads the text

The text of each document is extracted in your browser and split into paragraphs.

  3. Review every change

Changed paragraphs are shown side by side, with edited words highlighted, like 30 days becoming 14 days.

What Matchcheck does

Built for contracts

Spot edits to dates, amounts, notice periods and clauses between two drafts.

PDF against Word

Check that a signed PDF matches the final Word draft.

Word-level highlights

Small edits stand out, even in long paragraphs.

Confidential documents stay private

Nothing is uploaded, so it's suitable for legal, medical and financial documents.

Questions and answers

Does it compare images and layout?

No. Matchcheck compares the text. Changes to images, fonts, colours and page layout aren't detected.

Why does my PDF show no text?

Scanned PDFs are pictures of pages, with no text inside. They need text recognition (OCR) first, which Matchcheck doesn't do yet.

Can I compare a PDF with a Word document?

Yes. Drop a PDF on one side and a .docx file on the other. Both are turned into paragraphs and compared the same way.

Are password-protected PDFs supported?

Not yet. Remove the password first, then compare.
