Compare JSON

Spot added, removed and changed keys and values between two JSON files, even when the keys are in a different order.

How to compare JSON

  1. Paste or drop your JSON

Add the original on the left and the changed version on the right. Paste API responses directly, or drop .json files.

  2. Pick how lists are matched

Automatic matching pairs list items by fields like id or sku. You can also match by position, or by a key field you choose.

  3. See every change by path

Each change shows its path, like products[sku=TEA-003].stock, with the old and new values.

What Matchcheck does

Key order doesn't matter

{"a":1,"b":2} and {"b":2,"a":1} are identical, so output from different tools doesn't create noise.

Smart list matching

Array items are paired by id, key, sku, name and similar fields, so inserting one item doesn't make everything after it look changed.

Type changes flagged

If a value changes type, like the number 15 becoming the text "15", Matchcheck points it out.

Skip noisy fields

Ignore fields such as updatedAt or requestId that change every time and bury the differences you care about.

Questions and answers

Is my JSON sent to a server?

No. Matchcheck compares JSON inside your browser, so API keys, tokens and customer data in your files stay on your device.

Can I compare JSON with comments?

Standard JSON doesn't allow comments, so files with comments (JSONC) show an error. Remove the comments first, or use the text comparison.

How are arrays compared?

By default, Matchcheck pairs items that are the same record, using fields like id or sku, or by how similar they are. Choose "By position" if the order is what matters.

Can I compare two API responses?

Yes. Paste each response into its box. Formatting is ignored, so a minified response and a pretty-printed one compare cleanly.
